Gifting to a Great Cause
In 2018 we learnt almost 7% of all suicides in New Zealand were working-age males in the construction industry, with 1 in every 6 suicides being an apprentice worker. Sadly, New Zealand has one of the highest rates of suicide in the developed world.
Half of adults experiencing mental illness first become unwell during adolescence, and around one in five young New Zealanders will experience mental health issues by the time they are 18. The development of skills and the gaining of knowledge to help successfully deal with pressures related to peers, family, relationships and their place in the world is paramount to reducing the adverse effects of poor mental health.
To help change the conversation around mental health, and in-line with our company's supportive ethos, Sto will be donating to the Sir John Kirwan Foundation, instead of providing a Christmas gift this year.
The Foundation's mission is to equip primary and intermediate students with the knowledge and tools to safeguard and nurture their mental wellbeing and help others do the same. The Foundation's focus is to build school programmes that educate our young New Zealanders around all aspects of mental health, how to manage it and be well-positioned to recognise and positively deal with life when it gets a bit tough.
We hope that our donation to this exceptional cause will help the Sir John Kirwan Foundation continue its work and help those who need it most. For further information, please visit - jkfoundation.org.nz
From all the team at Stoanz, we wish you Happy Holidays with family and friends and a Happy New Year.
