Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge
The Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge, New Zealand’s largest cycling occasion, and arguably one of the country’s largest sports participation events, welcomed 6,500 riders and over 10,000 supporters to the Taupo region on Saturday 24 November 2018.
This year Sto was pleased to enter a team into the Bike Barn Round the Lake category, with thanks to Sto’s Technical Manager, Dean Robb for his 19th visit, who teamed up with Sto Contractor Dion Bareta of STS Contracting for his first time around the leg pumping challenge.
The day was forecasted for wet weather which was delivered, but thanks to the Sto designed cycle gear and weeks of preparation and training put in by Dean and Dion we gained 155 km of epic results.
Dean crossed the finish line at a total time of 5 hrs 25 min with Dion blazing a time of 4 hrs 38 min. What a ride and congratulations!
A big thanks to Dean and Dion, to all involved, a massive event which we know lead to massive celebrations. We look forward to round two next year - with a bigger Sto participation.
